Sutherland Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the southern region of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.

Geographically, it is the area directly to the south of Botany Bay and the Georges River. Sutherland Shire is 26 kilometres (16 mi) south-southwest of the Sydney CBD, and is bordered by the Bayside Council, City of Canterbury-Bankstown, Georges River Council and the City of Wollongong local government areas.
