San Juan Antiguo

Barrio of San Juan, Puerto Rico

About

San Juan Antiguo is one of the 18 barrios of San Juan, Puerto Rico. San Juan Antiguo is further divided into 7 subbarrios or districts, namely Puerta de Tierra in the east, and Ballajá, Catedral, Mercado, San Cristóbal, San Francisco, and Marina in the west. San Juan Antiguo is located entirely within San Juan Islet, a small island in the northeastern Atlantic coast of Puerto Rico, where the oldest permanent European settlement, today the Old San Juan historic quarter, was founded in 1521. It is connected to the main island of Puerto Rico by two bridges and a causeway.
