The Instituto Nacional de Estatística or INE (Portuguese for "National Institute for Statistics"), also branded as Statistics Portugal in English, is the government institute for national statistics of Portugal.

INE is one of the components of the portuguese National Statistical System [pt] (SEN, Sistema de Estatística Nacional), which also includes the Higher Council of Statistics (CSE), the Bank of Portugal and the regional statistical services of the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira. It is a public institute with its own special regime and is therefore not under any specific unit of the State although it does respond directly to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Furthermore, it is directly represented in the Social and Economic Council (CES) [pt] of Portugal and its operations integrate the Eurostat european statistics framework system.
